Land of the Sleeping Rainbows

I have been trying to get through images form my recent trip to Utah and Arizona. I was invited by the Patels (Jay and Varina) and had a great time exploring some less visited places. The first night and next day were spent at the Land of the Sleeping Rainbows. It is located in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. I could have easily spent my entire trip here and not captured it all. Everything from the grand scenic to intimate landscapes and macros were everywhere. The hardest part was picking which lens to use next. I ended up having pictures from the 16-35, 28-75, 180 macro, and the 100-400mm.. Here are some of my early favorites from this area.

An interesting old juniper, I faintly light painted it with an LED in th esame direction as the full moon. I wanted it too look very natural, just giving the moonlight a little help basically.

An especially nice area of stripes and colors. I used the Tamron 180 macro for this one.

I liked how this tree stood out from the red hills behind.

Getting up on top of the hills provided a beautiful view all around.

A moment of sunlight on this overcast day lit these grasses nicely.
