Blowing Rocks

My buddy Rick and I had planned to go to Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, but my 4 am wake-up from Rick was that they close on Fridays. So the plan changed for sunrise at Blowing Rocks in Jupiter, FL. It is an area I have had on my mind for a while now. We had perfect conditions, with a higher tide and a nice cloudy sky. Plus I got to really try out the 5d2.

I got way too close to waves several times, but that’s what it takes for good dynamic foregrounds sometimes.

I liked the receding water and the reflected light on the horizon on the left. I cranked the iso to get a faster shutter speed here, as it was still pretty dark.

We also visited Jonathan Dickinson State Park which apparently doesn’t have the most photographer friendly staff. It has some nice Pine flatwoods but it was a little overcast and hard to avoid the skies. Definitely a place to check out with better light.
